1 Shamwa'al (Samuel) 20:5-35

5 "And Dawad (David) said to Yahunathan (Jonathan), 'Indeed, tomorrow the renewing moon (Heb. "khadash" - "renewing of the yarakh")......'

The Hebrew "khadash" in the text above is translated in the KJV as "new moon", which is usually interpreted as the first visible sliver of the renewed yarakh. I don't believe that is the proper translation in this case, because of the contextual usage of the word khadash, and I'll explain why. Remember that the word khadash can be interpreted three different ways based upon the context in which it is used. We will be able to see here that there's only one way that it will fit in the proper context. The text above says, "Indeed tomorrow is khadash." It is either referring to, 1) the beginning of the time of renewal (non-visibility) of the light of the yarakh or, 2) to the completion of the time of renewal of the light of the yarakh as evidenced by the visible first sliver. It cannot refer to the 29 or 30 day cycle between two khadashim as it is referring to a specific day; being "tomorrow". We'll examine the first two meanings of "khadash" in light of the contextual usage of the passage so that we can learn which meaning is to be properly applied. The verse above continues with,

"......and I should not fail to sit with the king to eat. But let me go that I may hide in the field until the third day at evening."

The words "day at" have been added to the text supposedly because it is implied, however the literal text above has no real need to add the words "day at", where they are not in the original text, and is not necessary for discernment or accuracy purposes. Actually, I believe that it causes confusion as to the accurate timing of this series of events. As we progress through the account, we will be able to understand the timing of these events. Properly the text reads,

"......and I should not fail to sit with the king to eat. But let me go that I may hide in the field until the third evening." (after this time called "khadash" or "renewing moon")

So, whatever is going on here, Dawad is saying that tomorrow is the time called khadash and that he should not fail to sit with the king to eat. Apparently, there is an appointment here with the king during this special time.......just as there may very well be an appointment/muayd for us Yasharal with THE Almighty during this time called khadash???

Well, Dawad wants to make sure that he's gone until the third evening, after the time of chadash/renewing moon has concluded. He's going to be gone for two full daylight periods and two nights and will be hiding in the field until the evening at the end of the third daylight period.....which is after the conclusion of this two daylight period of "khadash", or renewal of the yarakh (new moon 7th day Shabath). Continuing with verse 6, "If your father misses me at all, then say, 'Dawad earnestly asked of me (Yahunathan) that he might run over to Bethlehem, his city, for a yearly sacrifice for all the family. If he (King Shawal) says thus, 'well', your servant will be safe. But if he is very angry, be sure that
